  1. I get to run my own business. I always wanted to run my own business and now I can. Even if it’s a small business and I only have one employee (who also happens to be my wife), together we get to grow it and manage it the way we see fit. We talk real estate every day, find better practices, better systems.
  2. I love the law. Real estate is close to my other passion in life, the law. So many legal aspects come into play in a real estate transaction and I love putting it all together.
  3. I love analyzing the market. I get to see all the new listings in my area, what sold, what didn’t sell. I’m a data nerd and I look at the market changes every morning with great interest.  I like studying houses. I love analyzing them, the architecture. I like estimating their worth, their history and their potential.
  4. I love the flexibility. I love managing my own schedule to work around what is important to me.
  5. I get to talk about real estate, a lot. My friends and family will confirm it.
  6. Marketing is fun. Well, my wife does most of it, but it’s fun for us to have the control over it. She often pops into my office with her eyes wide open because she just had the next great idea.
  7. I get to have goals instead of tasks. I love having goals and targets in my business and achieving them the way I see fit as I am ultimately accountable to myself. For me, it’s much more motivating.
  8. I get to work on and develop new qualities. Getting into real estate has forced me to stick to a schedule, to get up early, workout and eat better. It has taught me to be more patient, to have a better work ethic, to be more disciplined, and to be more understanding.
  9. I get to learn about people. Real estate transactions are rarely without a good deal of emotion and I have to learn how to handle that. I get to see and deal with so many different personality types and it has forced me to be more adaptable. I get to learn about people, how they act, how they react.
  10. You learn something new every day. You learn something about the market, about the law, about people, about yourself. There is never a dull moment in real estate. Each house, each client, each transaction is completely different.
  11. The possibilities are endless. The sky is the limit. We get to reap what we sow.
  12. There is no traffic. I could never sit in traffic morning and night commuting to and from a desk job. But at the same time I know I can be working from almost anywhere.
  13. We get to help people. Helping people get from point A to point B is fun, but making sure that the ride is comfortable and enjoyable is even better.  Real estate can be a very complex and bumpy road, and being there for the client, finding solutions, guiding them is truly satisfying. There is nothing like a happy client.
